Rick Matthews awarded as OLBA Volunteer of the Year

On the rare occasion in life you meet someone that volunteers their time and skill, with such a quiet demeanour to make the work seem effortless. That person is rare indeed but that is Rick.

Rick has been volunteering for 33 years at Richmond Green Indoor Lawn Bowling Club.

Through his deeds and example, Rick has made an indelible contribution to our club and to lawn bowling in Ontario. For those years, he has served as Draw Master each Saturday during the Fall and Winter. His efforts and leadership ensure our tournament players are able focus on playing the game they love every week.

People that know Rick Matthews, have had the fortune to have met a man that loves lawn bowling and will do whatever it takes to make it better, to make it accessible, to make it fun. He's an amazing team player, whether it's bowling or as a volunteer he believes in you, your ability, as well as his own.

Rick's skill in being a great volunteer, is shown clearly through his, energy, creativity, reliability, passion for the game and his innate ability to be a team player!

So, in closing, Rick Matthews – in my books - is extremely deserving of this recognition from the OLBA.
